Biography

In his short life he was a soldier, farmer, and politician. At the time of his death he was seized with a good sized estate, a rarity for his day. Even though he left much in material goods and real estate, no stone or marker marks his last resting place.[1]

He served under his Uncle Thomas C. Warner, along with his father William Morris, in the 12-13th Consolidated Louisiana Militia at the Battle of New Orleans. [1]

He was the appointed Sheriff for Washington Parish for 1844 and 1845... The record of his appointment as Sheriff is on record in the Archives of Louisiana in the Appointment and Commission Book for the period, the oldest preserved.[1]
