Albert Morris was born in 1886 in Wigan. He was the son of Joseph Morris and Mary Ann (Moss) Morris.
By April 5th 1891, Albert's family were living in Albert Cottages, Standish. Joseph was now working as a grocer as well as a coal miner; Mary was a grocer's assistant, so presumably she ran the shop when he was down the mine. Their daughter Alice, aged 21, was a tailoress; their son Joseph, aged 17 was a coal miner. The rest of the children were not in paid employment and were as follows: Margaret (15), Ann (14), James Henry (6), and Albert (4).
By March 31st 1901, they were living in Bryn Street, Ashton in Makerfield. Joseph was working as a metal contractor in the colliery; his wife Mary Ann as a confectioner. Their eldest daughter Mary was no longer in the household, having married Samuel Hill. Alice, Ann and Martha Jane were all still at home and working as confectioners, presumably for their mother. James Henry was 17 and working as a collier. Albert, now 14, was a grocer's shop assistant. Since all the women of the household were working, they had a fifteen-year-old live-in servant Agnes Simpson to help with the housework.
Albert has not yet been traced in records after 1901. His father died in 1908, and Albert wasn't with his mother in 1911. However he is said to have had descendants.
