Biography

  • Agnes Morrison was born at the end of 1874 in Andraid, County Antrim, Ireland. She was the daughter of James Morrison and Agnes McAuley[1]
  • Andrew Gordon, a farmer, from Keady, Co. Armagh, married Elizabeth Morrison from Andraid, Drummaul, Co. Antrim on 16 August 1894 at Keady Parish Church, Co. Armagh, Ireland.[2].
  • Andrew and Agnes Gordon had three known children: Adam Gordon (b. 1896), Agnes Gordon (b. 1898) and Miinie Gordon (b. 1902).
  • In the 1901 Irish census Agnes Gordon was age 26, living at Tullynamollogue, Co. Armagh, with her husband Andrew Gordon (45), a farmer, and their children Adam Gordon (4) and Agnes Gordon (2). Also George Parks (16), Joseph Parks (12) and James Cassidy (17), farm servants[3].
  • Andrew Gordon died at Tullynamollogue in 1904, age 45.
  • Agnes Gordon, a widow, married David Ferguson, a farmer from Tullynamollogue, Co. Armagh on 20 September 1905 at Benburb, Dungannon, Co. Tyrone, Ireland.[4]. Agnes's sister Mary Morrison was one of the witnesses.
  • David and Agnes Ferguson had at least two children, Martha jane Ferguson (b.1906) and Ethel (b.1911, d. 1911). They do not appear in the 1911 Ireland census, but Ethel was born later that year in Belfast Maternity Hospital. David Ferguson was listed as living in Hollywood, Belfast, and working as a dealer, which may explain why they were travelling at the time of the census. Agnes's three children with Andrew Gordon were living with her mother Agnes (McAuley) Morrison at the time of the 1911 census.
