Biography

Educated at the University of Virginia.

Married Ellen Carter Bruce 12 Sep 1843 in Richmond, Henrico, Virginia, United States[1]

In 1853 he had Richmond architect Albert Lybrock build a row of town houses for rental properties, known as Morson's Row in the Capitol Square district of Richmond. It was registered in the National Registry of Historic places in 1969[2] NRHP Listing Date 06/11/1969; NRHP Reference Number 69000354

He also owned "Dover" a plantation located on Dover Rd and Hebron in Goochland, VA.[3] Now called Brookfield Farm, Dover was a large plantation in operation since 1730 under various owners. Ellen C Bruce purchased it from the Warwick family in 1842, married James M Marson and began construction of the mansion and associated slave quarters. The Dover Slave Quarters are a National Historic site.[4]

He died in St. James, Louisiana, but he was removed to Richmond from Louisiana on 30 Jan 1889 which is displayed on the bottom of the stone. [5]
