Biography

Hans was born in 1875. He is the son of Christian Mortensen and Johanne Larsen. He passed away in 1948.

Learned the barber trade at the age of 16. To avoid going into the Danish Army at the age of 18, left Denmark and came to Yates County, Town of Milo and hired out to work on a farm for Jake Ayers and Christopher Metcalf in 1893. Returned to Aalborg, Denmark in 1894 and stayed there only a few months then came back to work for Christopher Metcalf and William W. Buxton. Lived and worked on the Metcalf farm in the Town of Milo, Yates County with his wife Jennie.^[1]
