Ray married Sara Jane Polleck (born in 1917 in Pennsylvania; daughter of Daniel Polleck) on October 2, 1938.

Ray died on June 29, 1994 in Lower Paxton Township, Dauphin, Pennsylvania, United States, aged 82^[2]. He was buried in Harrisburg Cemetery, Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.^[3]
