In the 1881 Scotland Census William is said to be 38 years old and employed as a Joiner in a Factory. He resides with his wife Helen and 4 children at 151 Croft Street, Galashiels[28].

In the 1891 Scotland Census William is said to be 48 years old and employed as a Joiner. He resides with his wife and children at 151 Croft Street, Galashiels[29].

In the 1901 Scotland Census William is said to be 57 years old and employed as a Joiner. He resides at 5 Abbots Place with his wife Helen and children Lillias and William. It should be noted that the Ancestry Transcription has recorded the family surname as Mein however the ScotlandsPeople transcription correctly records the family as Muir[30].

William died on 16 February 1913 at 5 Abbots Place in Galashiels, Selkirkshire, Scotland aged 70[31].
