Biography

OBITUARY: Patrick Hugh Mullane, died October 9, 2021, from injuries sustained in a tragic accident. The world lost a loving husband, devoted father, and awesome grandfather. He was born in 1947 to Hugh and Marjorie Ann Mullane in Macon, Georgia. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne, his daughter Tammy Smith of Austin, Texas, and his son James P. Mullane of Cadott, Wisconsin. He is also survived by his brothers Timothy Mullane and Col. R. Michael Mullane of Albuquerque, his brothers Hugh Mullane and Mark Mullane of Spokane, Washington, and his sister Kathy Linhoff of Osseo, Minnesota. He is also survived by his grandchildren Luke, Cody, and Natalie Mullane of Cadott, Wisconsin, and Connor and Liam Smith of Austin, Texas.

Pat, as everyone called him, was the ultimate outdoorsman. During college he spent his summers working in Yellowstone NP, and then went to work for the US Fish and Wildlife Service. Even in retirement he enjoyed the outdoors more than anything. But as high on the list of things he enjoyed was his love for his wife, Sue, his kids, Tammy and Jim, and his grandchildren.

He was a game player, comedian, good natured teasing trickster with an easy laugh and a ready smile. He was a doer-of-things and knowledgeable about vast areas of things over his years-concrete, cars, plumbing, electrical, sports, fishing, hunting, wildlife, and history. He had a lot of funny stories, as tricksters and practical jokers usually do.

He was surrounded by his loved ones when he passed and as much as it can be said with such an awful accident, he passed peacefully. Mother Nature lost a great outdoorsman. But we suspect Pat's spirit is atop Santa Fe Baldy peak watching over the wonderful family he and Sue raised and the wilderness he loved so much. God speed Pa.

There will be a celebration of life December 12 at 2 p.m. at the Sandia Golf Club, 30 Rainbow Rd, NE Albuquerque, New Mexico, 87113. All who knew him are invited to come and speak. There are some great Pat stories.
