Biography

We first learn of Alexander Murray in October of 1687 when he requested the administration of [William Collins] the deceased husband of his new bride, Ann King Wilds Collins whom he married between the 10 October and 21 October 1687. Collins was Ann's second husband whom she married in 1675 at the age of 24.

• William Collins: "Appraisal was presented by Nicholas Smith, Robert King, William Smith and John Weston on 21 October 1687. Administration of his [Collins] estate was requested 21 October 1687 by "Alexander Murre [[Murray]" who married Ann, relict of said Collins. ^{[1] [2]}

Alexander Murray and Ann had two known children who were named in Ann's will. Ann died 9 June 1700 at Isle of Wight, Virginia at the age of 49. Her will was proven 10 February 1701 as follows:

"MURRAY, ANN, 49 Nuncupative, proven by Francis Parker and Robert King. Leg: son, JOHN COLLINS; daughter, ANN COLLINS; daughter MARTHA MURRAY; daughter MARY MURRAY; last two daughters to live with their uncle, ROBERT KING. Recorded. 10 Feb 1700/01, Will Book B page 434. Appraisal by Tristrem Norsworthy, Francis Parker William Smith, James Bagnal. Died June 9 1700/01. ^[3]

It appears Alexander's death may have preceded Ann's because in her will it states" "Leg: son, JOHN COLLINS; daughter, ANN COLLINS; daughter MARTHA MURRAY; daughter MARY MURRAY; last two daughters to live with their uncle, ROBERT KING." It is not known if John and Ann Collins are her step children or her biological children with William Collins. Ann was about 24-25 years old when she married William Collins in 1675 (after the death of her first husband Thomas Wilds). They were married for twelve years. Since no birth records have been located for William and Ann they could have been the biological children of John and Ann or John's children from a previous marriage.
