Family Notices
MUSCIO, Silas (Reverend).—June 12, 1949, at his residence, Glenorie, dearly loved husband of the late Mabel Muscio and loved father of Arthur and Jack and dear father-in-law of Edna, and loved grandfather of Aline, David, Jan, and Phillip, aged 79 years.
[9]THE LATE REV. S. MUSCIO
The Rev. Silas Muscio was laid to rest in the Dural Cemetery on the 14th June, 1949, after a service held at his home.
The Rev. G. E. Johnson, B.A., representing the President of the Conference, officiated. He was assisted by Rev. A. E. Putland, Chairman of the District, Rev. A. M. Sanders, Secretary of the Conference, and Dr. Collocott, M.A., B.D., Litt.D.
He was not well known to our N.S.W. Conference, having entered the Queensland Ministry in the year 1892. He laboured faithfully in that
State, until failing health compelled him to relinquish active ministerial duties after twenty-one years of strenuous work.
He ministered faithfully in the following circuits: Clermont, Normanton, Mount Morgan, Beenleigh, Stanthorpe, Roma, Pittsworth and Lowood. While at Normanton he contracted malaria, which eventually caused his retirement.
From that time he was compelled to live a quiet life, and settled in the Glenorie district as an orchardist, and joined in fellowship with the
Glenorie Church.
It can be said of him that his life, quiet and unassuming as it was, has left an impact upon those who associated with him, and this world is the richer for his having passed through it. Now the journey is ended we can be confident in our thoughts concerning him, for there is no doubt that he has received the commendation: Well done, good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.
Our deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved family, and we feel sure they will be comforted in the knowledge that their father has
been a faithful servant of God. — A.F.C.
[10]ORDINATION SERVICE.
On Friday evening an ordination service was heid at which the Rev Silas Muscio, who had earlier in the day submitted himself to an examination by the conference in ministerial session, and had completed his four years' probation and passed his annual examinations successfully, was ordained, to the full work of the ministry.
The President of the conference presided, and after conducting the opening exercises, in accordance with the usual practice, proposed certain questions to the candidate for ordination, who gave satisfactory replies.
The president, assisted by the Revs, the ex-president, the secretary, C. Stead and H. Youngman, then performed the ceremony of the " laying on of hands," and partook of the sacrament of the Lord's Supper with the
newly ordained minister.
The ordination charge, based on Joshua 1.9 was impressively delivered by the ex-president.
