Biography

Verna was born August 15, 1916 in Steele County the daughter of Frederick Nass and Nettie Rhodes. She lived all her life in Steele County. She attended country school, District 10-Crane Creek, and graduated from Owatonna High School. She then worked for SL Department Store for 26 years. She enjoyed her job very much. Verna retired in 1983. Verna did volunteer work at St. John Lutheran Church for ten years and also volunteered at the Steele County Food Shelf for nine years. She loved to read library books and baking. Her passion was sewing clothes, crafts and most of all, quilts. She made dozens for her family. She was a member of the Owatonna Womens Club.^[1]
