Biography

Phyllis (Nattrass) Cunningham was born in the Colony of Victoria (1851-1900)

Phyllis Hannah Nattrass (married name Cunningham) was born in 1876, her birth registered that year in Pleasant Creek (now Stawell), Victoria, Australia. She was the daughter of William Nattrass and Margaret Nattrass. ^[1]

Marriage. In 1902, she married Albert Ernest Cunningham, in Victoria. ^[2]

Death. Phyllis Hannah Cunningham died suddenly on 12th June 1919 at her home in Dahlen, Pimpinio, Victoria. Following an inquest, and with her age recorded at 43 years, her death was registered in Horsham, Victoria. Death was given as 'natural causes heart failure'. ^[3][4][5]

Obituary

The death occurred suddenly at Dahlen, Pimpinio, at one o'clock on Thursday morning of Mrs. Phyllis Anna Cunningham, wife of Mr. Albert Ernest Cunningham. The husband reported the matter to the Horsham police, and the deputy coroner (Mr. S. C. Knight, J.P.) has it in hand. The shock was a severe one to the bereaved husband, as on the previous evening Mrs. Cunningham appeared to be in her usual health. The deceased, who was 42 years of age, leaves seven children, the eldest being sixteen years and the youngest four. They are Muriel. Rene, Phyllis, Albert, Stanley, Willie and Eric. To them and the husband much sympathy has been extended. The funeral will leave Dahlen at one o'clock to-day (Friday), and will arrive at the Horsham cemetery about a quarter to three. The inquest, which was formally opened yesterday, will be resumed in the Horsham Court-house to-morrow (Saturday), at 10.30 a.m. ^[6]

Burial. On 12th June 1919, her remains were interred in the Methodist portion, Horsham Cemetery. ^[7]
