Biography

Benjamin was born in 1851. ^[1] He was the son of Cook Neale and Amy Hoy.

The 1861 census shows the family living on Kneesworth Street, Royston, Hertfordshire. The members of the family were: ^[2]

- wife Amy Neale, age 40, born in Bassingbourn, Cambridgeshire

- daughter Mary A Neale, age 17, general servant, born in Royston

- daughter Roseanna Neale, age 14, general servant, born in Therfield, Hertfordshire

- daughter Ruth Neale, age 13, nursemaid, born in Therfield

- son Benjamin Neale, age 9, born in Royston

- daughter Susan Neale, age 7, born in Royston

- daughter Alice Neale, age 2, born in Royston

He married Emily Whipps in 1874 in the district of Pancras, Middlesex. ^[3]
