Private Thomas John Nesbitt (2495, 24th Battalion) was an apprentice engineer from Riddells Creek, Victoria. On 29 November 1915, Thomas was sent to number 7 post at Lone Pine on engineer’s fatigue duty. He was killed instantly when the post where he was working was directly hit by a shell. Thomas is commemorated in the Lone Pine Cemetery, Gallipoli. Thomas’ mother wrote that he was aged 16 years and 7 months.
