Biography

Private Thomas John Nesbitt (2495, 24th Battalion) was an apprentice engineer from Riddells Creek, Victoria. On 29 November 1915, Thomas was sent to number 7 post at Lone Pine on engineer’s fatigue duty. He was killed instantly when the post where he was working was directly hit by a shell. Thomas is commemorated in the Lone Pine Cemetery, Gallipoli. Thomas’ mother wrote that he was aged 16 years and 7 months.

This was a completely unsourced profile for a Richard Nesbitt (no family links entered) 1900 Australia-1916 Gallipoli, Canakkale, Turkey same approx dates and same Death place and year. Have not been able to find any Richard and wonder if it should have been Thomas that fits except for name so have changed this to Thomas
