Biography

Charles Cornwallis Neville, 5th Lord Braybrooke, Baron of Braybrooke was born on 29 August 1823 at Billingbeer, Berkshire, England. He was the son of Richard Griffin, 3rd Lord Braybrooke, Baron of Braybrooke and Lady Jane Cornwallis. He married Hon. Florence Priscilla Alicia Maude, daughter of Cornwallis Maude, 3rd Viscount Hawarden and Jane Crauford Bruce, on 9 October 1849 at St. James's, Westminster, London, England. He died on 7 June 1902 at age 78 at Audley End, Essex, England, while at breakfast. He was buried on 12 June 1902 at Littlebury, Essex, England.

He was given the name of Charles Cornwallis Griffin at birth. He graduated from Magdalene College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1845 with a Master of Arts (M.A.). He succeeded to the title of 5th Lord Braybrooke, Baron of Braybrooke, co. Northampton [G.B., 1788] on 21 February 1861.[1] He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Essex. He held the office of Vice-Lord-Lieutenant of Essex. He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Essex. He held the office of High Steward of Wokingham.[2]
