Mary's son, John Pinkney Holbert was a stone cutter in Henderson County. His family owned a quary there and were commissioned to cut the stone for the Zebulon Vance Memorial in Pack Square in Asheville. John Pinkney cut the stone for his mother's grave fashioning it after the oblisque Vance Memorial in Pack Square.
