Biography
Sarah was born in 1823 at Hertford Place, Coventry, Warwickshire, England. She was the daughter of Thomas Newsome and Ann Newsome [1] Sarah and Matthew and children were passengers on the immigration ship "William" which arrived Auckland 6 April 1853 from San Fransisco. Sarah died about 1861 aged 38 years old. [2]
Funeral Notice. On Sunday the 7th instant, after a short but painful illness of only a few hours duration, borne with christian fortitude, Sarah, the beloved wife of Matthew Roe, in her 38th year. "Her end was peace".The funeral will leave the residence on Wednesday at 3pm. Friends will please accept this invitation.[3]
