• "POLICE BOOK SUSPECT IN S. VALLEY SLAYING Police have booked a suspect in connection with the shooting death of a South Valley woman Saturday evening. Clifton Adair, 36, of 408 Baton SW, was arrested Saturday and booked about 11 p.m. in connection with the death of Pondora Johnson, 36, of 823 Bridge SW, a spokesman for the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department said. Ms. Johnson was in her apartment about 5 p.m. Saturday with a boyfriend when a man entered and pulled a small caliber gun, Capt. John Sands said. The boyfriend told police the man shot twice, but the gun misfired both times. Then he shot again, hitting Ms. Johnson in the temple, Sands said. The boyfriend wrested that gun away, Sands said. The assailant - identified by police as an ex-boyfriend of Ms. Johnson - then pulled another gun, and shot once, without hitting anything, then left, police said. Officers found Adair at his residence about 6 p.m., where he surrendered without a struggle, Sands said."^[2]

• "CITY MAN GUILTY OF GIRLFRIEND'S FATAL SHOOTING An Albuquerqne man was found guilty Friday in District Court of the second degree murder of a former girlfriend whom he shot and killed after finding her with another man. Clifton Adair, 41, of 408 Bataan SW will be sentenced Oct. 22 by District Judge Gene Franchini. Adair was convicted of killing Pondora Ann Johnson, 36, after he entered her 823 Bridge SW apartment and found her with Air Force Staff Sgt. Thomas Black from Kirtland Air Force Base. According to Black's testimony, Adair pulled a gun from his pocket and shot Ms. Johnnson once in the head after the weapon misfired twice. Adair faces a possible 15-to-55 year sentence for the March 3 slaying."^[4]
