Private. Gene Niblo served in the United States Army in World War II Service started: 15 Dec 1942 Unit(s): 10th Mountain Division Service ended: 25 Oct 1945
"when vets of the three Infantry regiments sought out their respective headquarters bistros they found them identified by large, beautifully painted regimental insignia rendered by our own Gene Niblo. In the case of the 87th boys there was instant recognition because their insignia had been officially recognized by the Institute of Heraldry during our time in World War II."
Born to Loyal Elbert Niblo (1889 - 1940 and Clara Estelle Puntenney-Niblo (1889 - 1983)
"The 87th Mountain Infantry Battalion was activated on 15 November 1941 at Fort Lewis, Washington, with Lieutenant Colonel Onslow S. Rolfe as the commanding officer. This unit was the first American unit of mountain troops." [1]

"Died March 29, 1977 after a long illness, in Denver, Colorado. He served with l-87th, went to Kiska and saw action in Italy with the 10th. He was an artist, teacher, craftsman, and always ready to help on the 10th projects..........Gene made many artistic contributions to the 10th Mountain Division............... many members have, hanging on their walls, his silk-screened 10th insignia on the framed glass. All of us in the Rocky Mountain Chapter will miss Gene a great deal. He is survived by his wife, Edith, and son, Stephen."

THE Riverside Cemetery online list was checked and there are only 2 NIBLO's there, Henry and Mons Niblo born 1905/1907... Eugene IS NOT listed and this is a very good list.
I was just INFORMED "This gentleman is NOT buried at Fairmount Cemetery in Denver, CO....Please remove from the Fairmount Cemetery on F.A.G
Thanks so much" (unsigned)
I was informed before I placed the memorial that he was there And his grave was near my other family............ and no stone but there is an OPEN space..
The cemetery has just confirmed that Uncle Eugene is not buried with the family, in the Fairmount Cemetery in Denver. I will remove him and start looking for the correct cemetery, any help would be appreciated.
Since there is evidence that he was living in Denver and it is a known fact that when a person had no money and no other cemetery would take them, Franktown Cemetery has allowed people to be laid to rest with them. So he might be one of the 50 KNOWN but unmarked graves there. I will do further searching to verify this...
