Biography

Bush Nichols was a native of Danville and, with, his brothers. Henry . L. and Barrett (a twin), operated the Danville Laundry and Dry Cleaning Company, one of the first steam laundries in Kentucky, One of the co-founders of the laundry business here in 1895, was his father, the late J. M. Nichols. The three brothers had operated it for many years and Bush was a director and past president of the Kentucty Laundry Owners Association, At one time the Danville Laundry and Dry Cleaning Company had an extensive railroad business, sending and receiving laundry throughout the state. Mr Nichols was a charter member and past president of the Danville Country Club and a charter member of the Danville Kiwanis club. He was a Mason and member of Oleika Shrine and of the Centenary Methodist Church here. He was a member of all the local Masonic bodies and was past master of Franklin Lodge, number 28. He was a member of the Board of Commissioners at Kentucky School for the Deaf under the Willis administration. He was born on July 21, 1894, the son of the late John M. and Boone Bush Nichols, and would have been 65 years old next Tuesday.Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Theresa Hourigan. Nichols; a daughter, Mrs. Allen P. Dodd Jr., of Louisville; two sons, Robert A. Nichols, of Indianapolis, and R. Bush Jr., of Danville; two brothers, Henry L. and Barrett, both of Danville; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mrs. Harriet Arnold Nichols, in 1944. ^[1]
