L Z Nichols, 76, died Tuesday from injuries received in an automobile accident in Gatesville.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Potosi Cemetery with Weldon Gann officiating, directed by North's Funeral Home, 4002 Buffalo Gap Road.

Mr. Nichols was born in Palo Pinto County and grew up in Abilene. He was a longtime Abilene resident and served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked as a mechanic, carpenter and car dealer for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Katherine Nichols of Abilene; four sons, Jerry Nichols, Bill Nichols and Danny Nichols, all of Angleton, and Ken Nichols of Abilene; two stepsons, Michael Elliott and David Elliott, both of Merkel; two brothers, Kenneth Nichols of Yuba City, Calif., and Jimmy R. Nichols of Abilene; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will be at 225 E.S. 27th.
