Tilman Miles Nichols was born 5 June 1884, the son of James Mondell Nichols and Mary Lois Marguerite Jennings. Tilman died on 17 April 1964, and is buried with his wife Addie at Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery, Dawson County, Georgia.[1]
Tilman and Addie were married about 1895 or 1896.
In 1900, the Nichols family lived on a rented farm in Monroe, Tennessee. The family included Tilman Nichols, 24, born in 1876, a farmer; his wife of five years, Linda A., 22, born in June 1878, who had had four children, two of whom were living; their children, Granville, 4, born Feb. 1896; and Gerty E., 3, born in 1897. All members of the household were born Georgia.[2]Living nearby was Tilman’s brother, David Nichols, b. 1870; his wife (Sarafina), b. 1874, and their five children. NOTE: the birth years for Tilman and Addie shown in this document are probably accurate. Their birthdates in FaG are probably in error. Additionally, in this document, their surname was spelled NICHOLAS, and some of the given names were also misspelled, but I believe this Census is for this wikitree person because everything matches with all other known data.

The household included Tilman Nichols, 32, a farmer; his wife of fourteen years, Addie, 30, who had had eight children, five of whom were living; their children, all born in Georgia: sons, Granville T., 14, a farm laborer; Lonie, 8, in school; Torrie, 6; and daughters, Levvie, 4; and Delia M., 2.[3]
In 1920, the Nichols family lived in Dawsonville, Dawson, Georgia. They owned their farm. The family included Tilman M. Nichols, 44, a farmer; his wife Addie, 42; their children, Lonie, 17, a farm laborer; Conie, 15, farm laborer; Levie, 13; May, 11; Marchie, 9; Iler, 7; Cletus, 5; and Vanace, 2. None of the children were in school. All were born in Georgia. Living nearby was their son, Granville, 24, a farmer, and his wife.[4]
In 1930, the Nichols family lived on their rented farm on Creighton Road in Waleska, Cherokee, Georgia. The household included T.M. Nichols, 55, a farmer, and not a military veteran; his wife, Ada, 54; their children, Eva, 23; Marge, 18; Jen, 16; Cletus, 14; and Vanice, 12; and grandchildren, Elco, 10; Osco, 8; Leona, 6; and Carrell, 2. All members of the household were born Georgia.[5]
In 1940, they lived in Forsyth, Georgia. They had moved within the previous five years from rural Forsyth County. They rented their farm for $3 per month. All members of the household were born in Georgia, and none had had any schooling, except as noted. The family included Tilman Nichols, 64, a farmer, who had completed the third grade; his wife, Addie A., 60; their children, Eva, 33; and Joe, 35, a farm laborer (and his wife Leena May, 28, who completed fifth grade); and grandchildren, Elco, 19, farm laborer; Osco, 17, farm laborer; Leona, 15; and Melvin, 11, who completed the first grade.[6]
