O nome alemão é Johannn Wilhelm Schmitt; era carvoeiro, trabalhador em minas de carvão; chegou a São Leopoldo a 31-12-1825; algumas informações obtidas no excelente livro "Imigrante alemães, 1824-1853", do Genealogista Gilson Justino da Rosa. Maria: pode ser um sobrenome parecido. Ou Margarida Nizet; também pode ser encontrada como Nieser. Filhos:
