Biography

Eliza Nixon was born in 1849 in Wicken, Cambridgeshire, England, United Kingdom. She was the daughter of William Nixon (1818-92) and Ann Clarke (1821-). [1][2]

The family migrated to New South Wales (Australia). Arriving on the Hydaspes from Soham, Cambridge, to Sydney, New South Wales, on 17 December 1852. Eliza was 3 years old.

Arrived on board "Hydapes" as an Assisted Immigrant. Origin: Soham, Cambridge. William (33), Anne (31), with Children Anne E (9), Emma (6), and Eliza(3)*. Joining Relateive in Colony John Wright who arrived on the Irenen in 1852. [3]

Eliza married Henry Watson in 27 June 1871 at St Pauls, Cleveland Steet, Sydney, New South Wales. [4] both could read and write and were over 21 years old. Henry was a general Dealer and Eliza was emplyed as a Domestic Servent. Henry was living in Glebe and Eliza was living at . In the presence of Thomas Loklis and Emma Peacon, the Officating Minister was Alfred H Stephen. They had seven children, whilst living in Glebe, New South Wales.

Eliza's Husband Henry Hope Watson passed away in 1886 living Eliza with five children.

Eliza married Thomas Allen in 1892 in Sydney, New South Wales.[5]

Aged 49 years, she passed away on 21st April 1899 in 38 Glebe Roade, Glebe, New South Wales. (38 Glebe Road)[6] When she died she was a Green Grocer. Eliza died of Pheumonia and Pleurisy, Cardiac Syncope of 8 days lenght.

Her son William Watson was the Informant of 28 Franklyn Street, Glebe, New South Wales.

She is buried in the Church of England Section of Rookwood Cemetery, Rookwood.
