Mathilda was born on 20 June 1874 and baptised on 18 April 1916 in St John, Bethnal Green, Tower Hamlets, England. They were the child of Thomas Nokes & Mathilda Lucy Nokes.[1] She was the daughter of Thomas Nokes and Lucy Hurle.
In the 1881 census Lucy (age 4), Scholar, was the daughter of Thomas Noakes on Grove Green Lane, Leyton, Essex, England.[2]
