Biography

Matilda Nokes was born in Middlesex, England.

Early Years

Mathilda was born on 20 June 1874 and baptised on 18 April 1916 in St John, Bethnal Green, Tower Hamlets, England. They were the child of Thomas Nokes & Mathilda Lucy Nokes.^[1] She was the daughter of Thomas Nokes and Lucy Hurle.

In the 1881 census Lucy (age 4), Scholar, was the daughter of Thomas Noakes on Grove Green Lane, Leyton, Essex, England.^[2]

In the 1901 census Lucy (age 24) was the daughter of Thomas Noakes in Leyton, Essex, England.^[3]

Marriage

In 1897, Matilda Lucy married Charles Alexander Evans in Mile End Old Town, Middlesex, England.^[4][5]

In the 1911 census Matilda (age 37), Cardboard Box Maker, was the wife of Charles A Evans at 2 Kirkwall Place, Bethnal Green, Bethnal Green, London, England.^[6]

At the time of the 1911 census, Matilda and Charles had been married 13 years and had had five children, two of whom had died.

Death

Matilda died in 1918, at age 44, in Whitechapel, Middlesex, England.^[7]
