Biography
Patrick Nolan migrated from Ireland to United States.
Patrick was born in Ireland about 1824.
He emigrated to the U.S., where he married Mary Spellman in 1852. [1]
They at first settled in Massachusetts, where their oldest child, Margaret, was born. By 1860, they were living in Algonquin, Illinois, just north of Chicago. They had two more daughters, Mary, and Kate.[2]
Four more children had come along by 1870: Ellen (Nellie), Thomas, William, and Lizzie. The family was now living on the north side of Chicago, where Patrick worked as a drayman (delivering beer). [3] Ten years later, he was working as a teamster (horses). Living next door was his daughter Mary and her husband, John Lawler.[4]
Patrick passed away at the age of 60 on 7 November 1884. [5]
