Birth date is also listed as 14 Feb 1849.
From correspondence by Marilyn Wilson, 7-Sep-2008:
"Yes, I have info on the Nordmarks from Sweden so will try to get that to you. Our Peter Nordman, my grandmother Rockhold's father, was actually Petter Pettersson from Sweden. Every Swede had to spend 2 years in the army and there were so many men with his name, the Army changed his last name to Nordman. The Nordmarks were from Sweden too, and the five children emigrated to Norway and their name was also Petersson. "
Petter Petterson was a goldsmith and lived in Sweden just north east of Oslo Norway. He married a Norwegian in the Fet parish of Norway. They came to Chicago in 1867, and move to Republic County Kansas in 1879.
