Biography
Born in Frisco City 1917. 1930 census, he is 13 yrs old living with parents Johnnie & Lettie in Jones Mill Al. He is living here at least through 1935. 1940 census, he is 22, single & a boarder at a home in Rockingham NC, working as a cutter in a paper mill. Selective Service Registration, WW2, Navy. He is 23 years old. Employer: Sonoco Products Co, Rockingham. Muster Rolls 1942-44: USS Butler, Remey, Arethusa, Pastores, White Marsh. Honorably Discharged 10/15/1945. He ends up at Great Lakes naval base, Ill. He marries Catherine Mae Gibson of St Louis Mo & has 3 children, Carl Kathy & James before divorcing. Died in New Orleans 1967 & is buried in Mexia cemetery, Monroe Al. On his grave: Alabama CSG1 USNR WWII
