Ransom was born in October of 1797 in New York.

In December of 1820, he married Elizabeth Mary Faith in Harrison, Indiana.^[1]

By 1850, he and family had relocated to Breckinridge County, Kentucky.^[2]

He passed away in 1868 in Kaufman County, Texas. He was buried at Elmo Cemetery.^[3]
