Biography

America B. Norton was the son of Ira Norton and Martha (Lucas) Norton of Livermore, Maine.^[1] He was living with them at Monson, Maine, in 1850 at the age of 22.^[2]

America Norton never married. He committed suicide by hanging himself at Monson on 27 Jan 1901, with his age recorded on his death certificate as 72,^[3] The gravestone of America B. Norton at the Riverside Cemetery in Willimantic, Maine, is inscribed with the dates 29 May 1828 and 27 Jan 1901.^[4]
