Alden Nowlan was born on January 25, 1933 in Stanley, Hants County, Nova Scotia, Canada. Son of Freeman Lawrence Nowlan and Grace Reese.
Journalist, Author. Despite having only been educated to the fourth grade, he became a successful journalist and one of Canada's most prominent poets. Won the Governor General's Award in 1967. Became writer in residence at the University of New Brunswick, speech writer for Premier Richard Hatfield, a playwright, and a nationally respected fiction writer.
He died on June 27, 1983 in Fredericton, York County, New Brunswick, Canada
