Biography

James Stone Nunnelee was born to Lewis Tune and Martha Nunnelee in Pittsylvania, Virginia in 1869. He is noted in census reports of 1870 and 1880.

James married Ellen Poole(1890-1988), and they had five children(with Findagrave links):

MARTHA ELLEN NUNNELEE Kugler

Fifth child was CAROLYN FITZGERALD NUNNELEE Williams.

Lewis Tune Nunnelee II, nickname "Tuney", was in the Army Air Corps in World War II. A very nice memorial to him by Andrews Mortuary

James Stone Nunnelee(Jr.) was in the Army Air Corps as well, and sister Elizabeth Nunnelee Brunsdon, nickname "Wookey" was a captain in the Army Nurses Corps.

The 1930 census for Beaufort, NC shows much of the family.

On June 28, 1935, Martha Ellen Nunnelee married Edwin Brown Kugler(15 Dec. 1909 NC - 31 July 1971 Beaufort, NC).

On June 11, 1938, Carolyn Fitzgerald Nunnelee(born 1917) wed Joseph B. Williams in Beaufort, NC.
