My great grandfather was the editor/owner of the "Diamondfields Advertiser" at the time of the siege of Kimberley. My grandmother (Mary) met my grandfather Alfred Dennis Skea who was a Reuters correspondent, because her father was a newspaper man. My grandfathers mother was born Quinn. Apparently her family left Ireland for South Africa around the time of the Irish Potato Famine. The Quinn's lived on a farm on the outskirts of Kimberley.
