Mary was the daughter of Colonel William O'Barr and Nancy Frances Adams, close friends of the McLeaird family. Page 41 from the below referenced source states: "DEATH NOTICE The Hartwell Sun - May 21, 1881 'James Leaird of Reed Creek Community was suddenly stricken with paralysis last Thursday and died last Saturday.' We could have hoped for a more complete obituary. The short death notice does not resonate with the life and accomplishments of this successful Hart County, Georgia, pioneer. Furthermore, we have not been able to determine when Mary O'Barr Leaird died. Both are buried in the Reed Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, although there are no tombstones to mark their graves. The more than 430 descendants of this couple listed herein and those yet to be born, share a great heritage." Buried in Reed Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Hart County, Georgia
