Biography
William Bligh O'Connell was born on 5th September 1814 at Colombo, Ceylon (Sri Lanka). He was a son of Maurice O'Connell and his wife Mary Putland nee Bligh, daughter of former Governor of New South Wales, Captain (later Admiral) William Bligh.
He married Mary Australia Jones on 3rd September 1844. They had:
- William Bligh Henry O'Connell (1852-)
- Thomas O'Connell (1853-87)
- Maurice Charles O'Connell (1855-1928)
- Richard Murray O'Connell (1856-1923)
William passed away, aged 81 years, on 21st July 1896 at Woking, Surrey, England.[1]
