American businessman and racehorse owner. Two of his horses, Cavan (1958) and Celtic Ash (1960), won the Belmont Stakes.
Joseph was born October 26, 1891 in Lowell, Middlesex, Massachusetts, USA. He is the son of Edward O'Connell and Catherine Josephine McGinley.[1]
His 1st marriage was to Mary McGaffee on June 6, 1917 in Brookline, Norfolk, Massachusetts. He was 25 years old, born in Lowell, Massachusetts, resided in Brookline, was a banker, and his parents were Edward O'Connell and Catherine J. McGlinchey. She was 26, born in Lynn, Massachusetts and resided in Boston, Her parents were William J. McGaffee and Mary Roach. The marriage was performed by W. Cardinal O'Connor.[2]
Joseph died on July 7, 1960 in New York City, New York.[3]
