Mary was born in 1883. She is the daughter of Michael O'Neill and Bridget Mullins. ^[1] She married James Merritt in 1907 ^[2] She passed away in 1964 age 80 ^[3]

MERRITT, Mary, of 12 Dryden street, Sumner—On November 1, 1964, at her residence, beloved wife of James Merritt, and mother of Jim, Bill (England), and Ernie, also loved mother-in-law of Pearl, and loved grandmother of Bill and Lorna, Valerie (Mrs Martin, Wellington), and Pam (Mrs Fraser, Dunedin); in her 81st year. R.I.P. The Funeral will leave our Chapel, 292 Cashel street, This Day (Tuesday), after a service commencing at 10.45 a.m., for Ruru Lawn Cemetery. Lamb, A., and Hayward, Ltd. ^[4]
