Biography

Wilfred was born in 1909, the son of Archie Oatman and Frances "Frankie" Smith in South Norwich, Oxford, Ontario.^[1] In 1909, their family moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin.^[2][3] where his father was a hotel keeper.^[4]

By 1920, his family had moved to Victoria, British Columbia where his father worked as a farmer,^[5] a hotel proprietor and ^[6] and a janitor.^[7]

He married Gertrude Mae Medd in 1936.^[8]

He passed away in 1978 and was buried in the Springford Cemetery in Springford, Oxford County Municipality, Ontario.^[9]
