Francois Odjick was born on March 21, 1790 to Michel (Saguirotte) Neonerassa and Magdeleine (Wiskenkwe) Panossamokwe at Oka QC. He was baptized on May 21st. Godparents were Mr. (Trottier dit) Labissonnière and Annastasie Gastonguay (Anastasie "Shoentakouani" Raizenne, wife of Pierre Castonguay).[1] His father an Iroquois and his mother a Nipissing (Algonquin), according to custom, Francois is considered Nipissing.
Francois Odjick married Marie Louise Chevalier on January 24, 1811 at Lac Des Deux Montagnes QC.[2]
Both Francois and his brother Ignace are praised by the Sulpician missionary and parish priest Flavien Durocher. Concerning a manuscript he had transcribed, Durocher wrote as follows, on January 1, 1834: "I have endeavored to prune all the outdated expressions and to substitute those which are now in use. For this purpose I especially consulted my Nipissing Cicero, Ignace Chawanabe, who, to mention in passing, is a master of the composition of the Algonquin speech in response to the brief of his holiness Gregory xvi, and Francois Odjik, a Nipissing scholar."[3]

Affidavit of Francois Odjike, Nipissing Indian of the Lake of Two Mountains: testifying that a Robert McGregor was cutting down trees on lands that are part of the hunting grounds of the Nipissing Tribe, thus preparing the land for cultivation. Francois Odjick married Marie Kijiatanokwe, widow of Pierre Wabicip, on September 13, 1858 at Lac des Deux Montagnes QC.[4]
Francois Odjick died on February 25, 1863 at Oka QC.[5]
