Andrew was born on 22 July 1870 in Gordon, Houston, Alabama, USA. He was the son of Dasley Odom and Mary Ann Parrish.^[1]

When Andrew was 25 he married Mary Anna Royale McNeal on 5 January 1896 in Henry County, Alabama. The couple had 8 children: Grace Odom, WallaceJackson Odom, Eula Mae Odom, Era Lucille Odom, Mary Elma Odom, Baley Aubrey Odom, Pauline Odom and Mack Darling Odom.^[2]
