Evander Odom was born on July 16, 1834 in Marlboro, South Carolina, United States. His parents were John Odom and Malinda Wallace. He married Flavius Newton in June 1858
In Oct 1862 he enlisted as a Private in the 12th Battalion, South Carolina Cavalry. The 12th was combined with the 10th to form the 4th South Carolina Cavalry. CSA. The 4th Cavalry was involved in the fighting in The Wilderness Campaign, and battles around Cold Harbor in May and June of 1864. He was severely wounded at Burgess' Mill in 1864.
He died on March 25, 1911 in Marlboro, South Carolina, United States
