Herbert, child of Fred Oliver and Sarah Tagg, was born on 16 April 1899 and baptised on 16 July 1899 in Wortley, Yorkshire.^[1]

In the 1901 census Hebert (age 1) was the son of Fred Oliver in Farnley, Yorkshire, England.^[2]

Herbert arrived in Montreal on 18 August 1912^[3]

Herbert died (age 85) on 17 September 1984.^[4] Herbert was mentioned on a memorial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, Cedar, Nanaimo Regional District, British Columbia, Canada with a death date of 1984.^[5]

OLIVER Mr. Herbert Oliver, a resident of 90A 6325 Metral Drive. Nanaimo, B.C., passed away in Nanaimo hospital, Tuesday evening, September 17, 1984 . Born at Hull, England, Mr. Oliver had been a resident of the Nanaimo-Wellington area since 1922 and was 85 years of age. He is survived by his wife Vera at home: four daughters. Marlene Ganderton, Nanaimo; Gladys and husband Lyle Schmidt, Chilliwack, B.C.; Irene and husband Les Rogers, Nanaimo; Lois Oliver, Nanaimo; eight grandchildren; one sister, Minnie Proctor, Nanaimo. Flowers are gratefully declined, if friends so wish donations in memory of Mr. Oliver may be made to their favorite charity. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of MOUNT BENSON FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 125 Wallace Street. Nanaimo. B C., Thursday afternoon. September 20, at 1 p.m. Rev. Martin Dohm Schmidt will officiate, followed by cremation.
