Biography

Annie Ormerod born about 1844 in Bradford was daughter of cotton merchant Samuel Henry Ormerod and his wife, Mary Asquith. The registration of her birth has not yet been found. Her father died before the 1851 Census was taken at which time Ann and her mother, Mary, were living with Mary's mother, Rebecca Asquith, at the Dolphin Inn in Pontefract which Rebecca ran. [1]

Annie was living at Hunslet aged 17 when she married 31 year old corn dealer Robert Walshaw of Pontefract [2] and in 1861 Annie and Robert were living with Mary Ormerod in Pontefract. [3] By 1871 Robert had become the Innkeeper of the Crown and Anchor Inn [4]which he continued to run until at least 1891. [5] [6]

Robert is said to have died in 1891 and what happened to Annie is a yet unknown. She is probably the Annie Walshaw whose death was registered at Doncaster in 1929. [7]
