Biography
Gideon was a son of Hendrick Ostrander and Elizabeth Van Bommel, born 13 December 1730 in Hurley, Ulster County, New York.[1][2]
He married Helena Burhans (daughter of David Burhans and Deborah Van Bommel).[3] Their children were:
- Henricus
- Samuel
- Deborah
- Elizabeth
- Petrus G.
- Helena
- Rebecca
- Keziah
During the Revolutionary War, Gideon and his sons Henricus and Samuel served in the First Ulster Militia under Colonel Johannes Snyder.[3]
Gideon died on 17 November 1811 at Kingston, Ulster, New York, and was buried in the New Hurley Reformed Church Cemetery, Hurley, Ulster, New York.[4]
