Samuel was Choctaw.

Sam was born in 1882 at Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory, the son of Willie Ott and Liza Ott. Sam passed away in 1958 at Pittsburg, Oklahoma. He is buried at the Hickory Grove Cemetery, Pittsburg County, Oklahoma.[2]

On 10 October 1903, Henry Troutte was appointed Guardian for Sam Ott.[3][4]
