Research Notes

Original Import Details:

  • Research Note: Adaptation of the " Overbey" name to " Overby" began with some siblings in this generation ..as found in the spelling permutations in multiple records with one or both uses within the same familial line. Some siblings of this parentage kept and carried the "Overbey" surname to Tennessee, Kentucky,Missouri, Mississippi, Alabama, Texas and other westward migrations for multiple generations..while others who remained in Virginia adopted the shortened " Overby" surname. Current DNA technology confirms that these name variations often come from the same genetic lineage. * ( Overybey - Overbay - Overby )
