It is uncertain whether Sarah and Richard are Cynthia's children. Sarah cannot be Peter's sister as their parents were dead prior to her birth. She is unlikely to be Cynthia's daughter because she was born before their marriage. The 1880 census shows her with her sister Durinda (b. 1810). The order listed for the denizens on the census make it less likely that Richard is Cynthia's son. If he is Alexander's twin, their names would likely be spoken in the same breath. They may be niece/nephew to Cynthia.
