Margaret Oxendale was christened on 25 Aug 1811 at St Mary's Church in Penwortham, Lancashire. She was the daughter of Robert and Ann Oxendale of Hutton. [1]

Margaret married Thomas Sharpless (or Sharples) on 30 Apr 1833 at St Mary's Church in Penwortham, Lancashire. Margaret was of the local parish, Thomas was a bachelor. The witnesses were James Oxendale & Nancy Sharpless. [2]

Their daughter Jenny was christened on 9 Feb 1834 at St Mary's Church in Penwortham, Lancashire. Her father's occupation was recorded as husbandman, and the family's address as Hutton. [3]

Their son Robert was christened on 30 Aug 1835 at St Andrew's Church in Longton, Lancashire. His father's occupation was recorded as labourer, and the family's address as Hutton. [4]

Their daughter Agnes was christened on 20 Aug 1837 at Holy Trinity Church in Hoghton, Lancashire. Her father's occupation was recorded as spinner, and the family's address as Hoghton-bottoms. [5]

Their daughter Ann was born on 25 Dec 1839, and christened privately on 5 Jan 1840 by the clergyman of St Thomas' Church in Eccleston, Lancashire. Her father's occupation was recorded as labourer, and the family's address as Eccleston. [6] [7] She died in infancy, and was buried on 29 Jun 1840 at St Thomas' Church in Eccleston, Lancashire. Their son Edward was christened on 6 Dec 1846 at St Thomas' Church in Eccleston, Lancashire. His father's occupation was recorded as labourer, and the family's address as Windle. [14] [15]

Their daughter Margaret was christened on 2 Dec 1849 at St Thomas' Church in Eccleston, Lancashire. Her father's occupation was recorded as labourer, and the family's address as St Helens. [16] [17]

By March 30th 1851, they were living in Windle, Lancashire; Thomas was a labourer. [18]

Thomas died in 1860, and was buried on 19 Jun 1860 at St Thomas' Church in Eccleston, Lancashire. His age was recorded as 51, and his address as Windle. [19]

By April 7th 1861, Margaret was working as a beerseller. She and her children Thomas and Margaret were living at 95 Church Street, St Helens - the Crown Vaults. Her married daughter Agnes and family were boarding with them. [20]

Margaret died on 23 Feb 1890, aged 78. [21] She was buried on 26 Feb 1890 in St Helens Cemetery, in a family grave. [22] [23] Her son Thomas Sharples (grocer of 26 Lyon Street, St Helens) was her executor.
