Biography

She is probably the Jane Oxford, baptised 27 November 1812 at Compton Abbas, Dorset, parents George and Phillis Oxford (note however her death certificate has father 'Samuel' - she did have a younger brother called Samuel, and an uncle Samuel)

Jane married Henry Gumbleton, son of John Gumbleton and Elizabeth Arnold, on 14 Nov 1833 in Compton Abbas, Longcritchill, Dorset England.

Note: Henry Gumbleton was born on 2 Sep 1810 in Bishopstone, near Swindon, Wiltshire England and died on 31 Dec 1878 in Berthong, Wallendbeen, NSW Australia.

Arrival 8 April 1837 on the "Brothers": Henry Gumbleton 26, wife Jane 24, and their children Caroline 3, Emeline 2, and Henry's niece Martha 17. Their native place was "Bishopstown" Wiltshire. They were bounty immigrants, brought out by the Macarthurs of Camden Park.

Died: 23 April 1890 at Jindalee, house wife age 76; cause of death Heart disease 3 months; father Samuel Oxford labourer, informant Louisa Gumbleton, daughter in law of Jindalee. The death certificate lists children: Caroline 54, Emma 52, Ellen 50, Betsy 48, Sophia 46, Martha 44, Henry 42, Samuel 40, James 37, Eliza 35
