Biography

It's not clear from the sources if our Nancy was the Anna Nancy Palmer who married John Trueman on Sep 12, 1805. But her DOB was certainly April 9, 1785.

Sources

  • Findagrave. Anna Nancy Palmer, born 1788, died 11Mar1875. Links to husband (John Trueman) and children (Elizabeth and Marcus). Note: stone has her as 87 years old.

  • [Point De Bute,,New Brunswick,Canada Ancestry-Peterson.] Nancy Palmer, born 9Apr1785 in Maugerville, New Brunswick, Canada. Died 11Mar1875 in Point De Bute, New Brunswick, Canada. Wife of John Truemann.
  • Ancestry-Wood. Nancy Palmer, born 23Mar1783 in Maugerville, NB, Canada. Died 11Mar1875 in Point De Bute, NB, Canada. Daughter of Abijah Palmer and Mary Branch. Unknown spouse. This source seems to have conflated her DOB with her sister Mary's DOB.

This message is for all descendants of Nancy and Mary Palmer, Nancy being born on April 9th in 1785. After review of this time period and wikitree.com/wiki/Palmer-16028 profile of Nancy Palmer and sister Mary I may have found a Family Treasure and Artifact. Many years ago I was at a Yard Sale in my Community and purchased a Box of interesting Books when suddenly I found this particularly Old Book printed in 1811 Norwich Conn. The very interesting thing is that the Owner of this Book Nancy Palmer wrote inside this Book in "Beautiful Calligraphy Handwritten Script" as she signed her name...a Mary M Palmer also signed in the back of the book. My name is Earl and my ongoing quest is to find and connect with any of Nancy or Mary's descendants that would be interested in having this "Long Lost Family Treasure" ... I do believe there are of course Palmers and Truemans but I'm not sure of other Last names of descendants. Thanks so much for your help and any interest for your Ancestors Nancy and Mary.

If you would like to connect please email me directly at Email: [email address removed] I look forward to your communication..!

Best Regards,

Earl

I have connected her to John Trueman as the names of the children listed at find a grave correspond to - Trueman, Howard (1902, reprinted 1975, 2015). The Chignecto Isthmus and Its First Settlers. Toronto: William Briggs, pg. 160.

So it may be that the 1783 DOB is from a sister who died in infancy, and conflated with the Nancy that died in 1875? If so, we can change the DOB to 1785.

It's very clear that this family has a history of child or infant mortality. I have seen this alot with my Mennonite branch. Usually if the child passes away before the age of 5 they will name the next child the same name. This is a common practice with multiple succession of births from this time period.

Note that the DOB in the Ancestry source differs from that in the NB source.

I can only list the screenshot of the summary of record found on FS under * New Brunswick, Select Births and Baptisms, 1819-1889. It's not the best picture of a source but it is a legitimate one!

Please include the source in Nancy's profile, with a note. We may be able to figure this out eventually.

I have a source of Nancy being born on 9 April 1785 in Sheffield, Sunbury to same parents. Could be that this a duplicate or there was 2 and the this is the birth date of the first one who passed away and the date of death is for the second one who's birth date I just found. I believe that this applies to sister Mary also.
